How To Learn a Foreign Language?

Some truths: Foreign language courses are in a class apart where you must never play for time. A foreign language course requires a minimum of 3 hours weekly and 15 minutes on a daily basis, so when you delay matters, you are doing nothing but inviting failure. Utilize all the spare time you have though it is not recommended that you spend more than 45 minutes learning the language per session.

Split your study up into several small sessions. It is compulsory to attend regular classes to pass especially if you have taken the learning seriously. Some occasional review of all material you have learned previously is also very important to your success – for example, the vocabulary. Here are some ideas to make the learning of different sections of a foreign language course simpler.

Get the meaning only of such words whose meanings simply can not be speculated or guessed. Everyday stay in touch with the language and glance through the chapters of the text book.

Start to communicate: Do not feel embarrassed if you make mistakes, simply hear what others are talking about and start to speak. Practice speaking out loud on your own, in a group of friends studying the same foreign language and with your pets such as a dog or cat.

Putting it down on paper: Practice your writing skills every day until they become more natural.

Request a friend to dictate some small paragraph of the language and then find out how much of it has been written correctly.

Other helps: Must have a positive deportment and know your goals and reasons for studying the foreign language. Know what you plan to learn and how you will get there successfully. {1.f you need help get it and do not be afraid to ask questions or ask for help for fear of sounding stupid, or being embarrassed.} 1.Never be scared or embarrassed to ask for help when you need it and ask questions when you do not understand something, because it is a natural process of learning {2.Get audio tapes of the language and listen to them or make you own tapes and listened to yourself in order to perfect your pronunciation.} 2.To better your pronunciation, the best way is to listen to audio tapes of the language or you could record something yourself and listen. 3.For building your vocabulary, try using flash cards which are made of different colors denoting genders or nouns, verbs, adjectives, etc. 4.Practice in study groups and become good friends with some of your classmates because they can help you out.
